Assistant Professor of Medicine, Penn State Hershey Medical Center

Dr. Bernasko is a nurse practitioner with a specialization in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). She has almost a decade of diverse experiences in women’s health, IBD, and general Gastroenterology.

She joined Penn State after 5 years at Yale University, New Haven, CT where she earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice. She is also a board-certified Women’s Health Care Nurse Practitioner.

Her clinical focus is in the care of patients with general gastroenterology conditions and multidisciplinary care of IBD patients. Her research interests include the effective use of Electronic Health Records in the care of IBD patients and women’s health in IBD.

She recently served as a course director of the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) Principles of GI for the NP and PA in 2018, as well as faculty at the AGA’s IBD Parenthood Project.

She has been an invited faculty presenter on topics of interest in IBD at several local and national meeting
