Dr. Sushovan Guha obtained his MD from University of Madras, India and subsequently graduated with MA in Microbiology and Immunology from the Columbia University, New York. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York. Dr. Guha then joined the prestigious Specialty Training and Advanced Research (STAR) Fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, Los Angeles where he also received his PhD from the Molecular Biology Institute under the astute tutelage of Professor Enrique Rozengurt. Dr. Guha joined the University of Texas (UT) MD Anderson Cancer Center as Assistant Professor in Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition and later was recruited to McGovern Medical School and UT Health Science center in Houston as Associate Professor and Associate Director, Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition. He then joined the University of Arizona College of Medicine at Phoenix as inaugural Chief of Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. Dr. Guha finally came back to Houston and is currently a board-certified clinical gastroenterologist at the McGovern Medical School and The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, Texas-part of UTHealth, Houston, Texas.

Dr. Guha has published over 100 peer-reviewed manuscripts with h-index of 55 and i-10 index of 99. Dr. Guha is active in several committees of American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) including Center for GI Innovation and Technology (CGIT), Coverage and Reimbursement subcommittee, and Government Affairs committee and on e-Learning committee of American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE).

Dr. Guha believes in providing a personalized comprehensive gastrointestinal care to his patients with special emphasis on initial management of specific acute clinical symptoms. He has the uncanny ability of explaining the pathophysiology of gastrointestinal issues and their subsequent management in simplest possible terms to his patients. Dr. Guha will also provide timely care by performing necessary procedures and coordinate multidisciplinary care if necessary. He is well versed with all the latest clinical advancements in the field of gastroenterology and hepatology and strives to apply that knowledge to treat his patients accordingly. Dr. Guha consults on patients 18 years and older and speaks Bengali and Hindi.

Dr. Guha and his wife reside in Missouri City and are parents of an adult son and an adult daughter. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, eating out, reading, and watching various sports.
