Dr. Field F Willingham MD, MPH

Professor of Medicine, Emory University School of Medicine

Dr. Willingham is the Associate Division Director for Academic Affairs, a member of Winship Cancer Institute, the Director of Endoscopy for Emory University Hospital, and the Medical Director for Therapeutic Endoscopy at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. He is a Professor of Medicine in Emory's School of Medicine. He is board certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. He is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association, the American College of Gastroenterology, and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He was named a fellow of the ASGE in 2016. He served as the President of the Georgia Gastroenterologic and Endoscopic Society from 2014-2016 and remains on the board. Dr. Willingham received his Master of Public Health degree from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. He attended the University of Maryland School of Medicine and completed his residency and chief residency at the Baylor College of Medicine. He completed fellowship in gastroenterology at Massachusetts General Hospital / Harvard Medical School. He completed an advanced therapeutic endoscopy fellowship at Harvard Medical School in the joint Massachusetts General Hospital / Brigham and Women's Hospital program. Dr. Willingham is the Principle Investigator on multiple ongoing NIH and industry funded clinical trials. He has received multiple awards for teaching, research, and patient care. He has published hundreds of peer-reviewed manuscripts, abstracts, endoscopic videos, and book chapters. He became the Editor-In-Chief for VideoGIE in 2021.
