Alain Schoepfer MD

Dr Schoepfer was trained in Gastroenterology at Kantonsspital Lucerne and University Hospital Bern, Switzerland. He performed a post-doctoral research fellowship at the Farncombe Family Institute for Digestive Health at McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada, and a fellowship in advanced endoscopy at Friedrich Schiller University in Jena, Germany. His research focus lies in inflammatory bowel diseases with a particular focus on eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Dr Schoepfer and his research group aim to standardize disease assessment in EoE. He and his team developed and validated the EEsAI PRO instrument to assess symptom severity in EoE. Dr Schoepfer heads the Swiss EoE Cohort, a national cohort of prospectively included adult EoE patients to study questions on natural history and care provided to patients.
